Paratonic Design Launched
Introducing Paratonic Design

After trying to change things from the inside and hitting that wall a few too many times, I decided to try approaching the problem from the outside instead.
That’s why I started Paratonic Design, to build the tools that I believe our industry needs without those barriers holding me back.

After 15+ years as a computational design specialist, I’ve seen what works — and what doesn’t.
Some teams are lightyears ahead.
Others are stuck fighting:
๐ bureaucracy
๐ utilisation metrics
๐งช unstable R&D budgets
๐ญ innovation theatre
I have worked all across the AEC industry with architects, engineers, urban planners, consultants, technology companies and fabricators. The same patterns keep recurring, because of fundamental design flaws in how time is valued in a project oriented service based industry. For Architecture and Engineering companies to survive, we need to rethink the economics of our industry and transform into product companies. Failure to do this will mean being disrupted by those who do.

The struggle with Grasshopper and Rhino.Inside.Revit workflows
Rhino.Inside.Revit should have killed Dynamo.
So why didn’t it?
Two reasons:
1๏ธโฃ Firms believe buying Rhino licenses and training staff won’t deliver enough efficiency gains.
2๏ธโฃ Grasshopper workflows are often too spaghettified for the average Revit user to understand.
Rhino.Inside added power — but also hundreds of new components and concepts to learn.
That’s a barrier for most teams.

A Practical Approach to Computational BIM
๐ฆ๐ ก Most firms already have Revit and Rhino installed.
The real problem isn’t access to tools — it’s building workflows that project teams can actually use.
๐ฆ Most technicians are too busy to become Grasshopper super-nerds.
๐ชฆ So we bury the complexity to make computational tools usable for everyone.
๐ฅ We help teams develop and implement workflows
๐ We train your staff
๐ป We build the tools and infrastructure
๐ Less spaghetti, more lasagne.
Welcome to the age of BIM 1.5.

Introducing PyroTonbi — A Grasshopper + Revit Plugin
BIM Managers need structure and control.
Computational designers need freedom and flexibility.
PyroTonbi provides a modular toolkit combining Grasshopper components, Rhino.Inside.Revit workflows, and native Revit tools.
It also enables bidirectional conversion between Revit elements and lightweight semantic BIM objects inside Rhino.
We are now entering the Alpha phase, where a select few will get special early access to help gather feedback before we open it up to everyone in the Beta phase.

Rethinking AEC Software economics
We all know that the current market for BIM Software is dominated by a few large players.
Today, most computational design tools in AEC are either:

Join the Alpha
We’re currently looking for:
๐ถ Alpha testers
โ๏ธ more Pilot projects
๐ค Collaborators to build something together
๐ฌ Teams wanting computational workflows that actually stick
