Senior Building Performance Analyst

This role was intended to bridge the sustainability and computational design teams. Analyzing buildings for sustainability metrics such as UTCI, we produced reports using the company's established processes. Building on my previous experience in software development, I proposed to demonstrate the value of best practice computational design methodolgies that would bury the complexity in order to democratise access to better scale the userbase, as well as promote a more Agile bottom up and collaborative approach. However, sadly this was not supported. This experience really got me thinking about how the Utilisation Fallacy (which prioritises short term project delivery over investment in long term capability) that is often rampant within large corporate bureaucracies creates barriers to Digital Transformation in AEC. For those of us who have worked in startup culture, the shock is palpable!
